Driver caught racing on Moulinette Is. Causeway

SD&G – Provincial police impounded five vehicles over the weekend in SD&G for excessive speeding.

In one case, a driver was caught going over double the posted speed limit on the Moulinette Island Causeway in South Stormont (103 kilometers an hour in a 50 kilometer an hour zone).

A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was charged with street racing, had his vehicle impounded for a week and his driver’s licence suspended for the same amount of time.

Three other cases happened on Highway 401 where drivers were caught going 157, 158 and 162 kilometers an hour.

In North Dundas, a 61-year-old man from the township was charged after officers pulled over a vehicle going 134 kilometers an hour on County Road 43.

In all cases, the vehicles were impounded and driver’s licences were suspended for a week under Ontario’s street racing law.
