LONG SAULT – A set of buildings greeting people heading into Osnabruck Center will be taken down this year.

The dilapidated structures at 4895 County Road 14 are on the northeast corner of County Road 14 and County Road 18, at the southern entrance to Osnabruck Center.

An engineer had earlier deemed the main building unsafe and “that no one should enter the dwelling for any reason.”

In a key information report to council Wednesday night, Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Andrew Downing states the property owners didn’t appeal the decision.

The owner had 14 days after the property standards appeal hearing to appeal to the Superior Court of Justice.

A request for proposals to take down the buildings will be created and demolition will proceed once testing can be completed to make sure there’s no asbestos in the structure.

Clearing the property of all the buildings will come at the expense of the landowner.
