CORNWALL – Some homes around Power Dam Drive are without water tonight (Saturday) after a water main break.

Westbound traffic on Vincent Massey Drive is also being detoured because of all the heavy equipment working on the road. Eastbound is unaffected.

Cornwall public works crews were called about the break around 7 p.m., the department told Cornwall Newswatch.

Workers could be seen digging out the area of the water main in the bulrushes of the deep ditch on the north side of Vincent Massey Drive, west of the Notman car dealership.

Public works dispatcher Sylvain Leblanc told CNW the crews are making good progress on repairing the water main.

Leblanc said people affected should have received a call from the city’s rapid-response telephone system.

It’s expected the water should be on sometime around midnight or 1 a.m.
