ST. ANDREWS WEST – The owner of a family fun farm attraction in South Stormont will be receiving an award from the Governor General next week.
Sandy McDonald is among 56 Canadians receiving the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers at a ceremony at Rideau Hall on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
“Sandy is always giving, as he started McMaze at the age of 13 and continues his career as a high school teacher and helps with 325 Air Cadets, and much much more,” said his parents, Stephen and Valerie McDonald, in a statement to Cornwall Newswatch.
“We are very proud of his achievements.”
This will be the first time Governor General David Johnston gives out the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, recognizing Canadians who have made a significant, sustained and unpaid contribution to their community.
