SOUTH STORMONT/SOUTH DUNDAS – If you’re driving during the night this weekend on Highway 401, west of Cornwall, you will want to plan for a detour.
Demolition crews will be shutting down some lanes of Highway 401 overnight to demolish the first of two overpasses.
Pomerleau Inc. will start taking down the Aultsville Road overpass in South Stormont Friday night (April 8) as part of an eight month reconstruction project.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday (April 9) to take down the bridge.
Then, the westbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Saturday (April 9) until 8 a.m. Sunday (April 10).
During this time traffic will be detoured via County Road 2 at the Upper Canada Road and Dickinson Drive exits.
The following weekend, April 15-17, the Brinston Road overpass in South Dundas will be demoed.
The eastbound lanes will closed from 8 p.m. Friday (April 15) until 8 a.m. Saturday (April 16) and then the westbound lanes from 8 p.m. Saturday (April 16) until 8 a.m. Sunday (April 17).
Traffic during that time will detour on County Road 2 via the Carmen Road and County Road 31 exits.
