CORNWALL – Drier conditions coupled with a brisk wind made for the right conditions to feed a brush fire behind some homes on Hoople Avenue Monday night.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Hoople where flames were shooting up from the brush and debris behind a back yard fence.

They were able to quickly put out the fire which damaged the wooden fence at the back of the property.

Hoople Avenue was down to a single lane of traffic to allow firefighters to put down hoses on the street.

The Cornwall Fire Department wrapped up at the scene around 6:50 p.m.
