Five drama awards for Cornwall high school

CORNWALL – St. Lawrence Secondary School has picked up five awards at the Sears Seaway District Drama Festival.

The high school’s drama teams performed two plays during the March 5-6, 2016 weekend.

Danny, King of the Basement, details the life of a teen, struggling with poverty, hunger and homelessness. Mere Mortals is a lunch-hour conversation of three construction workers, revealing secrets about their past.

The teams won two awards of excellence, two certificates of merit and an outstanding production award.

The groups will now go to the Sears East Regional Drama Festival April 11-16, 2016 in Ottawa.

It’s the fifth year SLSS is going to the eastern regional competition.
