LANCASTER – Trying to get around the Lancaster weigh scales on Highway 401 didn’t turn out so well for several truck drivers.

SD&G O.P.P. and MTO officials performed a one day blitz on Thursday (March 10) and caught several commercial drivers trying to “hide” problems with either themselves or their vehicles.

Police laid eight charges and pulled one vehicle off the road.

The problems included violation of log book hours, failing to perform an inspection before driving, an overweight vehicle on SD&G roads and another vehicle that had expired plates, commercial registration and fuel tax permit.

Two drivers were also ordered not to drive for 72 hours.
