SOUTH DUNDAS – A fall and winter attraction, east of Morrisburg, have been named among the 2016 Top 100 Festival and Events in Ontario.
The fall pumpkin-themed festival, Pumpkinferno, and the Christmas spectacular showcase, Alight At Night, were among the recipients during the FEO annual conference on Friday, March 4 in Markham, Ont.
“Our government recognizes festivals and events as important economic drivers and we’re proud to support their efforts to create jobs, grow our economy and celebrate our diverse and vibrant cultural identity,” said Tourism Minister Michael Coteau.
Pumpkinferno and Alight At Night were picked by a panel of independent judges after the submissions in the fall of 2015.
Mild weather in December 2015 saw Alight At Night shatter all-time attendance records.
Festivals and Events Ontario operates Canada’s largest dedicated festival and event conference and also produces a guide to provincial events and festivals which circulates to roughly a quarter-million people.
