CORNWALL – Test results are in from a suspicious package delivered to a frozen yogurt dessert shop in Cornwall nearly three months ago.
The package prompted authorities to cordon off an area around Menchie’s at 525 Ninth Street East on Dec. 10, 2015.
Cornwall police Const. Dan Cloutier told Cornwall Newswatch Monday (March 7) the Health Canada analysis came back and it was “deemed not to be a controlled drug or hazardous material.”
When asked what it was, Cloutier couldn’t say exactly, believing that it’s a Health Canada policy not to disclose the product in question.
The package was described at the time as a white, powdery substance in a bag within a box.
Store owner Jennifer Jurchuk had told CNW at the time that the package was within a regular shipment to the store and “there was something in the box that didn’t belong there.”
No one was injured in the December ordeal.
