CORNWALL – A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital in grave condition after being pinned under a vehicle on Brookdale Avenue.
Cornwall firefighters, police, two ambulances and a paramedic response unit were called to the southbound lanes of the street around 1140 Brookdale Avenue just before noon.
It appears the woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time and became a victim of a two vehicle crash between a pickup truck and a car.
“There was a pedestrian…she was pinned under the vehicle. She was removed by the fire department and by EMS and transported to hospital. As far as her injuries, they are severe,” Cornwall police Acting Sgt. Derek Duchesne told Cornwall Newswatch.
Duschesne said neither of the drivers in the vehicles were injured.
The unidentified woman is described as an older lady.
Brookdale Avenue is closed between Ninth and Thirteenth Street for a police investigation, which is being lead by Const. Matt Dupuis of the traffic division.
Traffic is being detoured.
