LONG SAULT — One truck driver has been taken to hospital after two rigs collided on a county road, north of Long Sault.

South Stormont firefighters, SD&G O.P.P., Cornwall EMS paramedic response unit and two ambulances were called to the area of County Road 29 at County Road 35 (Moulinette Road) shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The two rigs made impact in a sharp curve in the road, forcing one into a deep ditch on the south side of County Road 29.

One driver had to be extracated from the truck and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A section of County Road 29 between Avonmore Road (County Road 15) and Moulinette Road remained closed as of 2:30 p.m.

The area has been dealing with freezing rain and high winds though it’s not known whether the conditions were a factor in the crash.
