Elite baseball taking field in Eastern Ontario

CORNWALL – Teen and pre-teen baseball players looking to excel in a competitive environment will have a new opportunity to take the field.

The Seaway Surge Baseball Club, part of Baseball Ontario and the National Capital Ontario Baseball Association, announced Thursday it will be holding information nights Cornwall, Brockville and Kemptville later this month.

“We’re pleased to have the Seaway Surge and the National Capital Ontario Baseball Association as part of Baseball Ontario, ” OBA President David Huctwith said. “They will offer young ball players in eastern Ontario an exciting new opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of excellent coaching.”

The Elite “AA” and “A” Rep level baseball teams will play in Eastern Ontario, Quebec and New York State.

Spring training for the midget, bantam and peewee division baseball will take place in late February at SUNY Canton. The coaching staff would be from the SUNY Canton Roos – a NCAA Division III team.

The information nights are being held Feb. 16 in Kemptville at Grenville Mutual Insurance on Colonnade Drive, Feb. 17 at St. Mary Catholic High School in Brockville and Feb. 22 in Cornwall at Gladstone Public School.

All the information nights start at 7 p.m.
