CORNWALL – The Seaway City ended 2015 with another healthy year of building.

Numbers from the city’s building department show $54.8 million in construction – down about $1 million from the previous year.

There were also fewer building permits issued – 655 compared to 715 permits in 2014.

But the number of building permits is still about average (roughly 598).

In 2015, there were 64 family homes built in Cornwall, half of those (32) were single family homes.

Five apartment buildings, three duplexes and 22 semi-detached houses were also built within the city limits.

The largest number of building permits ever written up was in 1967 when 1,069 were issued.
