Cornwall courtyard project shelved

CORNWALL – A proposed multi-million dollar face lift for the courtyard around the justice building and city hall has been shelved.

Cornwall city councillors decided Monday night to shelve the $2.4 million project for now for the fountain and the areas around 340 Pitt Street.

The plan, drawn up by a city-hired consultant, had cleared the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) but the price tag was too rich for the majority of council.

While the idea has been sidelined, council hasn’t ruled out looking at it again down the road should funding from senior levels of government be available.
