Free help with disability tax credit

SDSG – With tax season coming up in a couple months, local MP Guy Lauzon is reminding you there’s a free service to help with disability tax credits.

The non-refundable tax credit allows people with disabilities to reduce the amount of income tax they pay, in order to help equalize the increased cost of living with a disability.

There is also a supplement for people under the age of 18.

You can contact Guy Lauzon’s office at 1-888-805-2513 to make an appointment to talk about whether you’re eligible and staff will arrange all the paperwork with your doctors or specialists.

Lauzon says the service is free, unlike disability tax credit consultants, who take their cut off the top – as much as 30 per cent.

According to figures from Lauzon’s office, they have helped over 1,500 families get over $12.4 million in Disability Tax Credit funds in the past seven years.
