SD&G – County councillor Dennis Fife will remain as chairman of the SD&G Police Services Board.

The county announced Thursday the North Stormont mayor and “active member … for many years” has been reappointed as chairman and Kirsten Gardner was reappointed vice chairman.

Fife said he is looking forward to working with SD&G O.P.P. Detachment Commander BJ MacDonald and other members of the board.

Since the O.P.P. moved to a new billing model, based on calls for service, the United Counties saved roughly $900,000 on its contract last year and is poised to save a further $1.1 million this year.

The five-member police board establishes policies, priorities and objective for policing in SD&G.

Chris McDonell, John Hope and Bryan McEwan make up the balance of the board.
