Cornwall, Trillium Distribution withdraw legal actions: CAO

CORNWALL – The city and the company behind Cornwall’s waterfront storage tanks have withdrawn legal actions against each other.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Norm Levac, the city withdrew its charges against Trillium Distribution over not obeying a land control bylaw.

The bylaw was passed in December 2013 in a bid to temporarily halt the development.

In exchange, Trillium Distribution is withdrawing its Superior Court action against the city, accusing it of overstepping its authority on the federal lands.

Meantime, the city and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne continue to work on an agreement with the federal government to jointly own the waterfront land.
