AKWESASNE, N.Y. – The company overseeing the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort has selected a new general manager.
Mohawk Gaming Enterprises LLC announced that Shannon Keel will head up the leadership team.
Keel takes over or Patrick Bassney, who resigned in May.
Since that time, the assistant general manager was serving as interim general manager until a new hire was selected.
According to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, Keel has an impressive resume with more than 10 years of senior-level casino resort management experience.
She has worked the 2,000 room Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Ill. as well as managed the casino at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort Spa and Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nev.
More recently, she was general manager of the Reserve Casino Hotel in Central City, Colo.
There were 65 people who applied for the position from across the United States.
