Attempted murder charges after family dispute

SOUTH STORMONT – A South Stormont man is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, after a family fight Sunday.

Members of the O.P.P. Emergency Response Team, the Tactics and Rescue Unit as well as SD&G O.P.P. officers were called about a family dispute at a home just before noon.

Police said the dispute between a man and several family members escalated to a point where threats were made and someone fired off a gun in the house.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

A South Stormont man, 38, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, uttering death threats, three counts of breaching firearms regulations, careless use of a firearms and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He was held for a bail hearing in Cornwall.

Police withheld the man’s name and the location of the dispute in order to protect the identities of the victims.
