CORNWALL – The city government block will be buzzing with activity Saturday as the municipality caps off Local Government Week.

Festivities are being held a city hall, the fire hall and the justice building courtyard from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

A number of city vehicles, including a police cruiser, ambulance and snowplow, will be on display.

Even the kids will get a chance to plop down in the mayor’s chair in the council chambers and try on the chain of office.

There are a number of other free, family-friendly activities.

There’s also a community barbecue from 11-1:30 p.m. put on by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall with proceeds going back into the community.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to find out more about their municipal government and the important programs and services it provides,” said Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy.
