SDSG – The candidates in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry are making the rounds of the riding, getting in some last minute work as people head to the polls today (Monday).
Polls opened at 9:30 a.m. and will be open until 9:30 p.m. tonight.
Conservative incumbent Guy Lauzon has been on a whirlwind tour of the riding. “He was in Chesterville and Cornwall and Morrisburg and now he’s out meeting voters, reminding voters to get out and vote so he’s out on the road today all over the place,” campaign spokesman Eric Duncan said.
Duncan said roughly 30-40 people are in the campaign office making phone calls and Lauzon will be joining them this afternoon. Roughly 125 volunteers are out on the street or in the office.
Lauzon will be at the Ramada Inn tonight after 9 p.m. to see the poll results after 9:30 p.m.
It’s a “pretty light” day for Liberal Bernadette Clement. She will be voting this afternoon at the poll at La Citadelle high school and is meeting with a few supporters and family.
Around 75 people are helping to get people to the polls, campaign spokesman Sebastien Manigat told Cornwall Newswatch.
The team will meet at Schnitzels for an Election Night Party. “We’re pretty excited about tonight so we’re actually going to be there around 9:30-9:45 to watch the returns because we’re expecting a pretty good result for us,” Manigat said.
NDP candidate Patrick Burger is at his teaching job today. He’s expected to be at the Pitt Street campaign office tonight around 10 p.m.
Plans for Green Party candidate Elaine Kennedy are not known. Attempts to contact Kennedy were unsuccessful.
