SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A couple who kidnapped two Amish sisters near Ogdensburg, N.Y. won’t be sentenced until early 2016.

Stephen Howells II, 39, and Nicole Vaisey, 25, were supposed to be sentenced this month on federal charges.

But that has been delayed until Dec. 17.

Also facing state charges of kidnapping, the state court agreed to delay its sentence until after the federal sentencing has been completed.

The St. Lawrence County Court will deliver its sentence on Jan. 5, 2016.

Both Howells and Vaisey are facing federal sentences that are in the hundreds of years in prison on charges they sexually abused six children, including the two Amish sisters.

The girls, ages seven and 12, were snatched from a farm stand in Heuvelton on Aug. 13, 2014, triggering a massive search across the north country before they were found.
