SD&G – Get ready for the sound of school bells in the Cornwall-area.

It’s that time of year again as English Public and English Catholic school students head back to class today.

If you’re heading to work this morning (Tuesday), police say you should be on the lookout for children as they head to school and keep in mind those big yellow buses are back on the road.

Passing a stopped school bus with its lights flashing carries a $490 fine and six demerit points.

Cornwall police have also made the trip back to school part of their monthly Traffic Action Plan for September, focusing on Community Safety Zones and violations surrounding drivers obeying school buses.

In addition to drivers and school buses, SD&G O.P.P. are also asking parents, who have kids walking or cycling to school, to speak to them about the rules of the road.

The French Public and French Catholic school boards welcomed back thousands of students last week.
