Ontario Provincial Police will be focusing on people not doing that, such as fiddling with their cell phone or mp3 player, while driving.
The Labour Day holiday is the first long weekend since new distracted driving penalties came into effect on Sept. 1.
The new fine for distracted driving is $490 and three demerit points.
If you try to fight the fine in court and you lose, the penalty can be as much as $1,000.
Police say 41 people have died so far this year on O.P.P. patrolled roads due to distracted driving – a 20 per cent increase from the same period last year.
