CORNWALL – Want to know if your elected official has been at a city meeting? Just look it up online.
That’s city councillor Justin Towndale vision in a proposal before city council Monday night.
Towndale, with the idea of making council transparent and accountable, wants an attendance record published on the city’s website covering council meetings, budget meetings, special meetings of the city and committees of council.
Under his new business proposal, supported by Coun. Brock Frost, the attendance listing would be retroactive to December 2014.
The motion doesn’t say whether it would be a simple roll call or if the record would explain why a member isn’t at the meeting.
If approved Monday, a study on whether the project could go ahead would come to the August 10 council meeting.
