CORNWALL – A 20-year veteran with the Cornwall Fire Department is the city’s new deputy fire chief.

The city announced Thursday afternoon Bruce Donig is appointed to the position effective today.

Fire Chief Pierre Voisine is thrilled. “Bruce brings a wealth of fire service knowledge both from a tactical and labour relations standpoint,” the chief said.

Donig will be overseeing numerous operations and training-related projects for the department.

Donig had also been the district vice president for the Ontario Professional Firefighters Association.
