CORNWALL – The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is warning residents about some high-pressure potential scam artists.
The chamber says a local consumer contacted them after someone showed up at their door saying they needed to check out the heating and hot water in the home.
The salesman reportedly told the resident their equipment was “illegal” and tried to get her to sign a contract for new equipment, referencing changes to the Ontario Energy Board.
Chamber Executive Director Lezlie Strasser says that’s not the case.
Strasser says, should a company like this visit your household, the chamber is advising you not to let them into your home, share any bills or sign contracts.
The chamber says it’s best to all your service adviser.
