CORNWALL – A kayaker on a 1,300 kilometer trip to raise money for suicide prevention is expected to make an overnight stop in Cornwall.
Styves St-Pierre pushed off the shore in Kingston, Ont. on Sunday and is expected to arrive in Cornwall Friday on his way to Perce, Que.
The trip is expected to take 40-60 days.
The paramedic is collecting donations along the way for suicide prevention on his trip called “Le Grand Voyage”.
St-Pierre, a native of Victoriaville, Que., wanted to combine his passion of kayaking with his desire to help others.
Through his work, he has witnessed how suicide has touched the lives of every gape group and social class.
As of Tuesday afternoon, his mission had raised just over $7,100 of his $25,000 goal.
