CORNWALL – Not only did the Fred Page Cup give hockey fans something to cheer about, local economy-watchers were cheering too.
Based on interviews with hoteliers, Cornwall and the Counties Tourism estimates the economic impact of the five day event was approximately $67,000.
Executive Director Linda Wilson says that doesn’t include day-trips to the Seaway City, buying gas and food, so the number could be closer to $70,000.
The Eastern Canadian Championship hockey tournament ran from April 29 to May 3 at the civic complex and saw Carleton Place take the championship for a second-straight year.
