PERTH – The cast and crew of 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse have picked up four awards at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival.

They received two awards for distinctive merit for ensemble performance and production team. Their director, Anna-Marie Bowering, won the Award of Excellence and the group also picked up the coveted Adjudicator’s Award.

“It felt great to see them honoured as a team from cast to crew for their hard work and perseverance,” said teacher-adviser Al Merizzi of the team following the results at the East Region Showcase in Perth.

The play won’t move on to provincials but Merizzi says it’s a great way to end the season.

There were 11 student performers. Jordan Laframboise and Tiffany Reinhold played the TV viewers. Serena Welsh, Emma Douglass, Nick Sauve and Nick Williams played survivors. Jared Williams, Ronald Furoy, Gabbie O’Byrne, Blair Petryna and Robert Occleston-Pratt played the zombies.
