Two Brinston girls among gold-winning Brockville team

SOUTH DUNDAS – The Brockville Blazers Major Midget Basketball team has won gold against Huntsville 39-32 at the Blessed Sacrament Tournament in Hamilton.

The tournament was held the weekend of April 18-19, 2015.

The Blazers, which includes Brinston girls Jayme Henry, 15, and Lanee Baelde, 16 – went into the semi-finals with a win over Valley Pride and London, but lost a close game to Ancaster.

They upset the Capital Xelles in the semi-final by almost 20 points.

The team is made up of girls from Gananoque, Landsdowne, Brockville, Cardinal and Brinston, coached by Larry Henry.

The team is playing this weekend in Ottawa at the EOBA (Eastern Ontario Basketball Association) before moving onto provincials in Niagara Falls the first weekend of May.
