CORNWALL – The family of Judy Bobka has launched a GoFundMe page with the goal of establishing a bursary or scholarship at Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School.

It will be called the “Judy Bobka Memorial Fund” and would recognize a deserving student at the Sydney Street school which was close to her heart.

Bobka died Thursday after a brief illness. She was in her mid-70s.

In the GoFundMe posting, Sarah and Dan Bobka say the retired CCVS teacher “cared passionately for her community…working tirelessly (usually behind the scenes).”

The Bobkas are also thanking the community for its support during Judy’s illness, her time in the hospital and Hospice Cornwall before her death.

“Through this campaign, we want to pay tribute to Judy by sharing memories, stories and pictures of our experiences with her; so that we can keep Judy alive in our hearts,” Sarah and Dan say.

They are asking for donations to the memorial fund in lieu of flowers.

“Judy was (a) staunch advocate, organizer and champion for CCVS, the high school she graduated from and taught at for most of her career,” Sarah and Dan write.

You can find the GoFundMe page here.
