CORNWALL – A former Cornwall Colts star has, unfortunately, not made the cut for the NCAA top men’s hockey player for 2015.
Kyle Baun was among 59 nominees for the Hobey Baker award.
However, Baun wasn’t chosen by fans as one of three finalists.
Those finalists are Jack Eichel of Boston University, Zane McIntyre of the University of North Dakota and Jimmy Vesey of Harvard University.
The winner is being announced today (Friday).
Baun, 22, is a junior at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., and leads the Raiders with 17 points in 18 games.
But things are looking up for Baun as he signed an entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.
The award is named after World War I hockey legend Hobey Baker, recognized as the best amateur sportsman of his time and a consummate gentleman.
