LANCASTER – A tractor-trailer driver will have to make other arrangements after their truck caught fire Monday night.

South Glengarry firefighters were called to the weigh scales in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, just east of Lancaster, around 7:30 p.m.

They quickly put out the engine fire in the rig which was in a parking lot off the main lanes for the inspection station.

Damage appeared to be confined to the engine compartment while the box trailer, which was labeled as perishable goods, was not damaged.

There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters wrapped up at the scene about an hour later.
