ALEXANDRIA – The water is safe to drink again in Alexandria.

North Glengarry Deputy Mayor Jamie MacDonald tweeted Tuesday afternoon the township had received their water tests back and the alert would probably be lifted within the hour.

MacDonald also says people will be notified by phone.

The town has been under a boil water advisory since Saturday after a water main broke near the Mill Square in the downtown.

Health unit and township officials had urged people to boil their water for one minute, only if it was for consumption such as drinking or brushing teeth.
