CORNWALL – Cornwall and the Counties Tourism will have its say Monday night as the agency faces a chop of $50,000 to its $181,144 grant from the city.

Coun. Andre Rivette proposed the cuts to tourism and the airport authority as the city looks to reign in spending.

Tourism Executive Director Linda Wilson has told Cornwall Newswatch some of their campaigns to lure outsiders to the region may have to be put on hold or postponed altogether if there’s a cut in funding.

A report before council Monday night shows the funding split for tourism between the City of Cornwall and the United Counties is roughly a 61-39 split based on a funding formula established in 1999.

The report states the funding formula doesn’t appear to be a formal agreement.

Monday’s meeting starts at 5 p.m.
