WINCHESTER – When it comes to care at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital, it seems patients are giving the facility top marks.

The hospital was ranked a “high performer” in four patient areas – medical/surgical, maternity, emergency and day surgery.

All sectors scored over 90 per cent in overall care.

As for whether patients surveyed would recommend WDMH to a friend or family member, the response ranged from 74 to 93 per cent.

The provincial survey, conducted by a third-party independent research firm, was done between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014.

WDMH CEO Cholly Boland says the staff should be very proud because it’s a team effort to score top marks.

“Patient satisfaction is a result of the patient’s entire experience and involves every person the patient had contact with. It includes everyone from our volunteers at the front door to support staff that work behind the scenes,” he said.
