IROQUOIS – A municipal councillor has resigned from South Dundas Fire and Emergency Services.

Coun. Bill Ewing tendered his resignation earlier this month as he felt he would be in a conflict of interest when dealing with fire service issues at the council table.

Ewing reportedly came to the decision after a special council session and speaking with lawyers.

Ewing was assistant deputy chief at the Iroquois fire station and had been a firefighter since 1980.

It’s not known who will fill Ewing’s vacancy at the fire department.
