AKWESASNE, Que. – After three full days of searching, the machine of a missing snowmobiler has been found in the waters near the Salmon River, east of Snye, Que.
However, search crews have been unable to locate the second of two Akwesasne men, whose machines broke through the ice on Sunday.
One man’s body was recovered Sunday night.
An obituary posted on the Donaldson Funeral Home website in Massena identified him as 26-year-old Brandon Sweeting of Akwesasne.
Quebec divers located both snowmobiles in the St. Lawrence River, according to The Malone Telegram.
The Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department has been assisting in the search.
