WATERTOWN, N.Y. – Sledders from Cornwall and SD&G will be able to get a taste of the trails in New York State for free next month.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited the Watertown-area Thursday to announce the state is having a weekend in March where the $100 trail registration for sledders will be waived for those out-of-state.

Gov. Cuomo is hoping to boost tourism in the Empire State, inviting people from Canada and other states on the March 7-8 weekend to check out snowmobiling in the north country.

The only caveat is your sled has to be properly registered and insurance in your home state or province.

New York State has 16,700 kilometers (10,400 miles) of trails.
