LIMOGES, Ont. – The lawyer for Calypso Waterpark has told Ottawa media he is pleased nearly half of the 20 safety-related charges against his client have been dropped.
The 100-acre waterpark was charged in 2013 by the Ontario Technical Standards and Safety Authority.
Nine of the charges were dropped by the Crown in court Thursday, according to the Ottawa Sun and Ottawa Citizen, reportedly due to the availability of witnesses.
They were over alleged violations in 2011 and 2012 regarding the operation of a water slide where several people were hurt.
A trial will resume in March on the remaining 11 TSSA charges alleging inadequate supervision on a pirate-themed ride, the operation of The Steamer water slide and a ride called the Orange Bobsleigh.
