The following is a release from the Eastern Ontario Training Board on Jan. 29, 2015 about its training subsidy for manufacturers:
The Eastern Ontario Training Board is one of six organizations partnering to promote a training subsidy for manufacturers in Eastern Ontario.
Supporting Manufacturing Skills in Eastern Ontario offers eligible manufacturers a subsidy covering 50 per cent of third party training costs for their employees. Eligible training includes technical Skills as well as supervisory and interpersonal communication or ‘soft’ skills training.
Funding of $160,000.00 has been made available in Eastern Ontario through the Eastern Ontario Development Collaborative Program administered by FedDev Ontario. The amount available to our region and to each company will depend on the interest demonstrated locally and in Eastern Ontario as a whole.
The subsidy offers 50 per cent reimbursement for training delivered between May 13, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Instruction must be delivered by a third party trainer and includes Supplier Training, Train-the-Trainer, and LEAN or other quality training. WHMIS and First Aid training is excluded.
Qualifying manufacturers can range from companies producing a metal product to food products or those fabricating construction components.
