CORNWALL – The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has issued a warning to local businesses about an ongoing scam.

It says many local business owners have received a false invoice, under the pretense of being from a reputable company.

This scam has slightly changed the wording of the company name to make it seem like a familiar name in order to suck people in.

“We are encouraging business owners to take another quick look, and make certain of the company name,” said Chamber Executive Director Lezlie Strasser.

As the scam relies on the similarity of its name to a reputable company, business owners are encouraged not to make a payment until they figure out it’s the real thing.

The company name has been withheld to avoid confusion over the proper company.
