Suspect charged for animal abuse

CORNWALL — A Cornwall man has been charged for the abuse of two cats after they were found thrown in the trash.

According to the OSPCA, the cats were found beaten and left in a trash bag in a dumpster behind the Brookdale Arms apartment complex on Jan. 19, 2015.

The 25-year-old man has been charged with causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal, wounding and injuring an animal, two counts of abandoning an animal in distress, as well as two counts of failing to provide suitable and adequate food, water, shelter and care.

The accused is expected to appear in court on February 10, 2015.

His name wasn’t released.

Both cats are recovering well and expected to be released from care in the next few days.
