OTTAWA – After a long Christmas break, it’s back to work for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MP Guy Lauzon and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Pierre Lemieux at Parliament Hill.
The two MPs will be working Prime Minister Harper’s to-do list this session, which will focus on jobs and the economy.
New legislation is also expected to be introduced Friday to give law enforcement new powers to deal with terrorist threats.
One thing that won’t be delivered right away is a spring budget, which was delayed due to the recent drop in oil prices.
But the prime minister intends to balance the budget this year and move ahead with the pre-election tax goodies promised last year.
Harper underscored the government’s priorities during a campaign-style speech near Ottawa on Sunday.
