Extreme cold warning for SD&G

SD&G – It’s going to feel bitterly cold Wednesday afternoon and night across the region.

Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday for an area from Morrisburg to Lancaster and Winchester to Alexandria.

A cold front moving across southern Ontario with moderate winds, combined with the extreme cold, will make it feel like it’s minus 35 Wednesday afternoon.

The weather agency says people will be at risk for frost bite or hypothermia, especially the homeless and outdoor workers.

It’s suggesting you dress warmly and in layers and to wear warm socks, gloves, a hat and scarf.

The cold isn’t expected to let up for a while, with temperatures below freezing for the rest of the week and the weekend.
