Electricity scam showing up in Cornwall: Pescod

CORNWALL – Have to received a call from someone threatening to cut your power?

If you have, you may the victim of the latest scam sweeping the province, which has also hit Cornwall.

Cornwall Electric Regional Manager Mike Pescod says some customers have been phoned by someone posing as the electric company saying, unless they give credit card information to pay their bill, their service will be cut.

He tells Cornwall Newswatch they have heard from four customers as of Friday afternoon.

Pescod says Cornwall Electric does call customers telling them to call the office but does not request customer credit card information when making that call.

He says does not give any credit card information if your receive such a call.

Cornwall police have been notified of the situation, says Pescod.
