CORNWALL – The Quebec North American Hockey League (LNAH) says it has a conditional offer to buy the Cornwall River Kings.
Though the league has not identified a buyer, a Cornwall media report suggests Mitch Gagne is involved in a plan to buy the team.
The board met Monday night and a spokesperson said the Cornwall team took up a large part of their meeting.
“Several groups have submitted a request to the League to keep the concession of the Kings River (sic),” said LNAH spokesman Denis Boisvert.
“All efforts are implemented to ensure that the people of Cornwall and all the fans of the LNAH can still have a league of eight teams in the coming hours (sic),” he said.
The River Kings are scheduled to play Friday night in Trois-Rivieres.
