Voting begins for Cornwall playground upgrade

CORNWALL – A Cornwall Catholic school is hoping the community will come through with votes to spruce up its playground.

Voting started today (Monday) at 12 p.m. for the St. Columban’s Catholic Elementary school yard beautification project.

The JK-Grade 8 school on Augustus Street is one of 120 semi-finalists in the Aviva Community Fund.

Teacher Meghan Henry, submitted the entry, and wants to see the concrete playground get a little greener with some grass and some improvements, such as soccer nets and an outdoor classroom with wooden seats for the children.

The voting will be open on the until 4 p.m. on Dec. 10.

The 40 projects with the most votes Canada-wide will advance to the finals.

The Cornwall project is competing for up to $50,000.
